ConVecut®24 for aluminium staggered teeth
Description
ConVecut24 - A Solid Carbide End Mill with opposing flute helix, for free standing walls/flanges, unsupported bases, general thin featured components and extruded profiles.
In the milling machining process, all thin featured components are subject to the possibility of `Machining Induced Vibrations’ commonly known as `Chatter’. ConVecut24 is primarily intended to combat this problem and at the same time, to reduce the `Screw in’ effect when machining bases.
ConVecut24 is produced with, non-converging opposing flute helix, over the complete cutting length of the flutes. This configuration introduces an axial vibration which has a stabilizing and damping effect on the overall machining process.
Side cutting tests with the 16 mm diameter ConVecut24 on totally free standing walls/flanges of 1 mm thick over 48 mm high and also performing spring cuts, have proved to be no problem. For side cutting, chip evacuation is no problem regardless of the axial depth of cut.
For full slot cutting, chip evacuation is no problem at 0,5D axial depth of cut.
For entry into full material, a ramping method is recommended.
Principle:
One complete revolution of the cutter introduces an axial vibration, axially alternating start and direction of chip production and a stagger tooth effect. These three actions result in a complex, constantly changing combination, of axial and tangential cutting forces within each follow-on chip. Thus, breaking up the consistent tooth passing frequency and initial axial tooth strike position, associated with conventional end milling cutters.
